My First Breeding Venture

Hi, I'm Ed from Albay, my passion for cockfighting started when I was young as fifteen years old, it is my dream to known in the big world of cockfighting not as a fanatic "SABUNGERO" but as a breeder selling new breeds of game fowls. At this young age, I really admire and love to see gamecocks at my grand pa's backyard. My father also once in a while go for cockfighting and has a number of fighting cocks tied up in our backyard, I remember when he invited me to come with him in the cockpit arena to fight his regular hatch grey, at first buckle our rooster was hit and landed lame early in the fight. Wings flopping to move and to stay engaged with the opponent but the lemon white tailed cocked couldn't killed the grey that stayed on the ground, and with all the strength, the grey elevated in the air with strong wings landed a deadly blow on the white tailed cock then in a few second I saw the lemon vomits blood and turned heads up then died, it was a come from behind win for us and I shouted with a loudest voice that we won the fight and I saw my father smile all ears and he signed thumbs up to me. These game fowls have my respects ever since that is why my interest in breeding came out.

I started game fowl breeding way back July 2009, a friend offered or asked me if I’m interested in game fowls, at first I’m hesitant because what would I gained with those fighting cocks, I’m not into that kind of games, my thinking is that cockfighting is a form of gambling, but my friend explained to me very well and he convinced me that I can make money with it, there are many many cockfighting  enthusiast  looking for a good bloodlines and I could sell to them if the roosters I produced has a winning bloodlines. I started with a trio, two pullets and a rooster and the conditions we agreed that he will buy all rooster that I produced from said combination.

Now I understand that when raising game fowls there are plenty to consider, the area and the budget. The first breeds that I produced were all making good records in the fights now I can say that good bloodlines really matters when it come to winning.
